Anil K. Lalwani, MD is Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Director of Division of Otology, Neurotology & Skull Base Surgery, and Director of Columbia Cochlear Implant Program in the Department of Otolaryngology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition, he serves as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services at New York Presbyterian — Columbia University Medical Center. He has served as the President of American Neurotology Society (2014-2015) and President of the American Auditory Society (2017-2018). He previously served as Chairman, Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at New York University School of Medicine.
His clinical interests are in pediatric and adult otology include cochlear implantation, chronic ear disease, facial nerve disorders, Meniere’s disease, cerebellopontine angle tumors (e.g. acoustic neuromas), and skull base surgery.Dr. Lalwani is considered one of the leading experts on hearing loss in children and adults. He is the author of more than 190 peer-reviewed articles, and numerous book chapters. The 3rd edition of his highly successful second book, Current Diagnosis & Treatment In Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery has been translated into Spanish, Turkish, and Portuguese.
