Profile

Dr. Benjamin Roye, a pediatric orthopedist, is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University.  His clinical practice focuses primarily on spinal deformity.  The father of 4 children, Dr. Roye and his wife (a pediatrician herself) , have dedicated their lives caring for children. He finished both medical school and his orthopedic residency at Columbia before completing a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  He ultimately returned to Columbia where he now works at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York. 

For the past decade, his research has focused on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of scoliosis.  Recent projects have included the development of Best Practice Guidelines for use of halo-gravity traction in severe scoliosis, comparison of outcomes for different growth friendly spinal instrumentation systems, and factors associated with successful brace treatment of scoliosis.  A recipient of multiple grants, his research been widely published in such peer reviewed journals as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Spine, and he has written numerous textbook chapters.
