Dr. Mark Ashamalla, M.D. is a board certified radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of multiple cancers including thoracic, gynecologic, genitourinary and head and neck, using advanced treatment techniques including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and high dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy. Through clinical care, resident education and research, his goals are to improve long-term outcomes for his patients by improving efficacy, minimizing toxicity, ensuring treatment value and affordability, and exploring the potential synergies of radiation therapy with immunotherapy, all within a patient-centered treatment approach and clinical trials.
Dr. Ashamalla earned his medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he graduated with distinction. He then completed an Internal Medicine internship at Albany Medical Center jointly with the Albany Stratton Veteran's Hospital, before returning to New York City to complete his radiation oncology residency at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he served as chief resident for his final two years of training.
